Last Updated on August 5, 2021

This is not a joke. We just got word (and a poster to prove it) that Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures are remaking Bob Clark's classic 1974 slasher flick BLACK CHRISTMAS. Not only that, but the film will be hitting theaters this December! Crazy, right? Imogen Poots will star in the remake which Sophia Takal (V/H/S, ALWAYS SHINE) is directing from a screenplay she co-wrote along with April Wolfe. The film will shoot in New Zealand and co-star Aleyse Shannon, Brittany O’Grady, Lily Donoghue, and Caleb Eberhardt.

Check out the poster below if you don't believe me.

The original film followed this synopsis:

As winter break begins, a group of sorority sisters, including Jess (Olivia Hussey) and the often inebriated Barb (Margot Kidder), begin to receive anonymous, lascivious phone calls. Initially, Barb eggs the caller on, but stops when he responds threateningly. Soon, Barb's friend Claire (Lynne Griffin) goes missing from the sorority house, and a local adolescent girl is murdered, leading the girls to suspect a serial killer is on the loose. But no one realizes just how near the culprit is.

The remake's synopsis goes like this:

Hawthorne College is quieting down for the holidays. One by one, sorority girls on campus are being killed by an unknown stalker. But the killer is about to discover that this generation’s young women aren’t willing to become hapless victims as they mount a fight to the finish.

Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions, and Ben Cosgrove and Adam Hendricks of Divide/Conquer are producing. Greg Gilreath and Zac Locke of Divide/Conquer will executive produce. The original BLACK CHRISTMAS was directed by Bob Clark and written by Roy Moore, and starred Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder, and John Saxon. This remake is set for release on December 13, 2019. How excited are YOU to hear that Blumhouse is going to be giving Bob Clark's 1974 slasher classic ANOTHER remake?
