Bates Motel Rihanna

This may not seem like the most earth-shattering update, but when an actress has been spotted on a set while playing a new version of one of the most well-known characters in horror history you can't just let the images of her appearance pass you by.

The actress in question here is Rihanna, and the character she's playing is Marion Crane, the recipient of perhaps the most famous cinematic slashings ever in the Alfred Hitchcock film PSYCHO. Marion was originally played by Janet Leight in Hitchcock's 1960 classic, then Anne Heche took on the role in Gus Van Sant's ill-advised 1998 remake. Rihanna has now stepped into Marion's shoes, perhaps on her way to a terrifying shower scene, for the A&E series Bates Motel.

A couple images of Rihanna as Marion Crane can be seen above. Again, they're not much, but they do give us a bit of a preview of Marion's return to the screen.

Rihanna will be seen mixing it up with fellow stars Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Max Thieriot, Isabelle McNally, Brooke Smith, and Nestor Carbonell when Bates Motel's fifth and final season begins airing on A&E on February 20th.

Created by Anthony Cipriano, Carlton Cuse, and Kerry Ehrin,

this contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film Psycho gives viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years. “Bates Motel” gives fans access to the dark, twisted backstory of Norman Bates and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is.
