Schwarzenegger is going to meet with Shane Black about The Predator

A lot of viewers have been anticipating a rematch between Arnold Schwarzenegger and the PREDATOR species ever since Arnie's character Major "Dutch" Schaefer managed to best one of the trophy hunting aliens in the original 1987 film. Over the years, Predators have battled Danny Glover, Adrien Brody, and ALIEN Xenomorphs (twice), but have never again crossed paths with Dutch.

That may be about to change. Schwarzenegger's PREDATOR co-star Shane Black (who did some work on the script while on set) will soon be directing a new entry in the franchise, an "inventive sequel" called THE PREDATOR, from a story he crafted with Fred Dekker, his co-writer on THE MONSTER SQUAD… and there seems to be a chance that Schwarzenegger will have some involvement.

While visiting Columbus, Ohio during this year's edition of the Arnold Sports Festival, Schwarzenegger said that he hasn't talked to Black about THE PREDATOR yet, but

I’m going to meet with him for lunch sometime soon. Just as soon as I’m finished with this (Arnold’s Sports Festival) and "The Apprentice" and all this stuff. But I will get together with him. If there is any news, we’ll of course let you know right away.

Personally, I've always been glad that the sequels went in different directions. The Predators have been coming to Earth to hunt humans for centuries, so to just have them fight the same guy all over again would seem like a waste of their potential to me. But given that Black is back for THE PREDATOR and the thirtieth anniversary of the first film is coming up, it may be fun to finally see Schwarzenegger come face-to-face with another one of those ugly mothers.

THE PREDATOR is set to reach theatres on March 2, 2018.
