Score and soundtrack for Rob Zombie’s 3 from Hell coming to vinyl

3 from Hell Bill Moseley Rob Zombie

THE DEVIL'S REJECTS is by far my favorite of the movies Rob Zombie has made, and it's certainly helped out by the fact that it also has my favorite soundtrack of all the movies he has made. I still remember the day I bought that soundtrack on CD in the summer of 2005, and that CD got a lot of play in my house and in my car.

I'm still not entirely convinced that Zombie bringing REJECTS / HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES back in his new movie 3 FROM HELL is a good idea, I thought that Otis (Bill Moseley), Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie), and Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig) getting shot to death at the end of REJECTS was the perfect ending for that bunch, but 3 FROM HELL has given Zombie another opportunity to put together an awesome soundtrack – and Waxwork Records is bringing the 3 FROM HELL soundtrack to vinyl, along with the score composed by Zeuss.

Waxwork Records is proud to present Rob Zombie’s 3 FROM HELL Original Motion Picture Soundtrack! The 2xLP package features classic songs by Suzi Quatro, Iron Butterfly, Terry Reid and more. Included is the complete film score by Zombie’s long time collaborator and producer, ZEUSS.

3 FROM HELL is the upcoming 2019 horror film written and directed by Rob Zombie. It is the third installment of a trilogy including 2003’s HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES and 2005’s THE DEVIL’S REJECTS. The plot is centered around the three main antagonists of the previous films played by Sheri Moon Zombie, Bill Moseley, and Sid Haig, and introduces a new character, Foxy, played by Richard Brake. The film marks the long awaited conclusion to Zombie’s gory and original tale of the Firefly clan.

Waxwork Records presents the complete soundtrack and score to 3 FROM HELL housed in deluxe packaging, pressed to 2xLP 180 gram “Black Satans” red & black smoke colored vinyl and “Welcome To Mexico” purple with red & black smoke colored vinyl, an exclusive essay by Rob Zombie, a 12 page 12”x12” booklet featuring behind-the-scenes photos, and new art by Robert Sammelin.

Images of this 2xLP package can be seen below, and not only does it sport some cool artwork, that track listing can also be used as a source of information on 3 FROM HELL, which we still don't know all that much about. You can click on the track listing image to see a bigger version of it.

Like the soundtracks for CORPSES and REJECTS, this one contains clips of dialogue from the movie between the music, and the listings for these clips give an idea of the subjects being discussed. Some interesting ones include "I'm Your Bozo Jesus", "Piece Of Skull", "Don't F*ck With A Scorpion", "You Gotta Have Funny Music", "You Remind Me Of Tiny", and "Day Of The Dead".

The titles of the Zeuss tracks also give an idea of what sort of scenes they play over. Some of them are quite obvious, like "Baby's Parole Hearing", "Welcome To Mexico", "3 Coffins Arrive", "Black Satans Attack", "Machete Fight", and my favorite, "Arrow In Head".

It is somewhat disappointing to see that there are going to be half the number of classic songs on this soundtrack than were on the REJECTS soundtrack, but we will be getting eight cool songs, all of which were originally released between 1968 and 1976. There are a couple Terry Reid songs, which seems important since there were three on the REJECTS soundtrack. The James Gang has three songs on this soundtrack. They had one song in REJECTS, "Funk #49". There's a Slim Whitman song, a follow-up to the use of his "I Remember You" in CORPSES, a Suzi Quatro track… and Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida".

Moseley's character Chop Top references "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, so that alone makes it neat that it's now featured in another Moseley movie. But its inclusion here makes me wonder if we're in for a scene reminiscent of REJECTS' "Freebird" ending. The album version of that Lynyrd Skynyrd song was 9 minutes long, and 5 and a half minutes of it were at the end of REJECTS. The album version of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" is 17 minutes long. Could Zombie be using that song to try to one-up the "Freebird" sequence? It would draw comparisons to MANHUNTER, but I wouldn't mind seeing him give it a try.

The 3 FROM HELL 2xLP package is available for pre-order at WaxworkRecords.com and is expected to start shipping out in August.

Here's a sample of three Zeuss tracks. I think they're pretty great, I especially love the "Breakfast" track.
