Scream Factory to put out The Boy (No, the other one)

In one of those fits of serendipity that the Hollywood gods like to arrange just to confuse us mortals, two films called THE BOY are being bandied about this year. The one we're here to discuss is not William Brent Bell's killer doll thriller, but rather an offering from Elijah Wood's Spectrevision and Chiller Films.

The beloved distribution group Scream Factory is sending THE BOY straight to your doorstep on DVD and Blu-Ray on March 1st. The extras include behind-the-scenes footage. Reuniting COOTIES stars Rainn Wilson and Jared Breeze, this chilling tale is sure to earn a place of honor on your increasingly heavy media shelf.

The synopsis:

It’s the summer of 1989.  Nine-year-old Ted Henley (Jared Breeze) and his father John (David Morse) are the proprietors of The Mtn. Vista Motel, a crumbling resort buried in the mountains of the American West. Since Ted's mother left, John has drifted into despondency—becoming a living ghost, haunting the motel—leaving Ted to fend for himself. In this isolation, unchecked by the bounds of parenting, Ted’s darker impulses begin to manifest. The arrival of a mysterious drifter, William Colby (Rainn Wilson), captivates young Ted and the two form a unique friendship - setting the stage for Ted’s final, unnerving metamorphosis.

Directed by Craig William Macneill, THE BOY also stars Bill Sage, Mike Vogel, Zuleikha Robinson and Aiden Lovekamp. You can pre-order it right here.
