Death Note

YOU’RE NEXT and THE GUEST’s Adam Wingard will direct DEATH NOTE, an adaptation of a horror manga being developed at Warner Bros, reports THR. Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jason Hoffs and Masi Oka are producing the project, which was previously adapted as movie in its home country of Japan, spawning a sequel. While I know next to nothing about the source material, Wingard has been doing some exciting stuff as of late and I can't wait to see how he tackles this one. The premise sounds pretty wicked, too!

What it’s about:

The story centers on a student who discovers a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone by writing the victim's name, who then decides to cleanse the world of whom he deems evil. As the student is tracked by a reclusive police officer, a cat-and-mouse game ensues.

Before Wingard gets rolling behind cameras on this one, however, he will shoot THE WOODS for Lionsgate this summer. More on DEATH NOTE as we get it!
