The Town That Dreaded Sundown welcomes Addison Timlin

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Ryan Murphy and Jason Blum’s remake of THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN has just welcomed its first resident: Addison Timlin (“Zero Hour”, “Californication”).

In addition, the film’s “meta” plot has been revealed, making it sound like a too-late SCREAM rip-off. (We’ll reserve judgement for now, however.)

THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN takes place in Texarkana, site of the 1946 “Moonlight Murders” that inspired the 1976 cult pic The Town That Dreaded Sundown. Addison Timlin plays Jami, a girl who survives a copycat massacre at the film’s annual tribute screening and sets out to solve the mystery of who’s recreating the unsolved Sackhead murders, using clues from her own past.

Safe to say now that this will be a very different movie from the Charles B. Pierce flick that inspired it.

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (“American Horror Story”) is directing from a screenplay by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (CARRIE remake). /p>
