Tremors TV show is in the works and bringing home the Kevin bacon

The graboids are getting ready to shake your world apart. Now that TREMORS 5: BLOODLINES has brought the franchise its first buzz since 2004, the times are a-changin'. You see, Universal Cable Productions and Blumhouse Productions are developing a TV show based on the original TREMORS.

There was a short-lived Tremors series that ran for 13 episodes on the Sci Fi network in 2003, but this show might just have what that series didn't: Kevin Bacon. That's right, Mr. Bacon is signed on to executive produce and star in Tremors, his first straight-up horror role since STIR OF ECHOES in 1999. Obviously, he made a notorious early appearance in the original FRIDAY THE 13TH, so horror has been good to him in the past, but the fact that this is actually happening is pretty unbelievable.

Bacon will be returning to Perfection, Nevada as his original character, handyman Valentine McKee, which he expressed interest in doing during an interview earlier this year:

I’d love to do something else with Tremors and revisit the character 25 years later. Part of what’s great about that movie is there are next to no digital effects. The monsters are done with puppetry, and it’s still off, funny and scary — it’s a cool accomplishment.

And he likes practical effects? This just gets better and better. The companies are currently shopping the show around to networks, but it will be written by The Secret Circle's Andrew Miller. More on this story as it breaks ground!
