Warner Bros lets Matt Reeves in to direct the planned Twilight Zone film

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Remember back at the end of September when we gave you the news that Nolan, Bay and Cuaron were front-runners to direct Warner Bros THE TWILIGHT ZONE film?

Well forgot those names as Matt Reeves has been chosen to helm the project. You might remember Reeves from CLOVERFIELD and LET ME IN. He is headed into negotiations next week, and I am sure we will hear more on that then. Reeves has several other projects in the works including THIS DARK ENDEAVOR, a take on the Frankenstein story, as well as being attached to THE PASSAGE a vampire based adaptation. He is going to be one busy little bee!

As for THE TWILIGHT ZONE film, no dates have really been issued, however we do know this wont be an anthology like that 1983 film. Deadline reported that ‘Though the last Twilight Zone film was an anthology with different directors, this one is a big science fiction action movie with a single freestanding story that is linked to the original series mainly in that it shares that familiarly eerie feel.’ Not sure I like this idea but I guess we will wait and see.

I have no qualms with Reeves being on board (hopefully negotiations go through smoothly) as I think he has a great eye for something like this. But c’mon, the anthology would have been awesome, great opportunity missed to have the best directors in the business working together.
