Since breaking out with his screenplay for IRON MAN 3, Drew Pearce has had a hand in crafting the scripts for several big-budget blockbusters, including MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION as well as the upcoming FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW. Now Variety has reported that he's set to write and direct a new high-concept thriller for Netflix by the name of QUARTERMASTER.

Other than that little snippet, there aren't any plot details about QUARTERMASTER at this time, but insiders have said that Netflix was so impressed by the pitch which Drew Pearce made that they brought it in the room and are quickly moving to cast the lead. This won't be Drew Pearce's first time stepping behind the camera, as he previously wrote and directed HOTEL ARTEMIS, another high-concept thriller which starred Jodie Foster as The Nurse, who ran a secret, members-only hospital for criminals. When a bank robber and his injured teammates showed up with both the mob and police close behind, the hospital fell under siege, leaving the criminal patients to fend for themselves. The film received mixed review upon release, but our own Chris Bumbray praised it as a pulp thriller which pushed all the right buttons and could become a cult film further down the road.

Drew Pearce's next film, FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW, which he co-wrote with Chris Morgan, is the first spin-off of the FAST & FURIOUS franchise and stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, who will be reprising their roles of Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw. The film is slated for an August 2, 2019 release.
