After delighting over 40 million viewers worldwide with its first season, Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios are ready to give people more of what they want by renewing the epic biblical drama House of David for a third season. Created by Jon Erwin, House of David is loved by viewers for its high production values and cinematic appeal. The series blends genuine drama with Gladiator-like action sequences that often exceed expectations for a faith-based project.
Viewers also enjoy House of David‘s approach to politics and leadership. While the series does not shy away from depictions of corruption, it also shows how David can wield power and influence through kindness and consideration for the divided parties. The show strives to entertain and not alienate viewers who don’t ascribe to any one religion, while also being a respectful representation of Jewish traditions and faith.
House of David Season Two stars Michael Iskander as David, alongside Ali Suliman as King Saul, Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam, and Stephen Lang as Samuel. The ensemble cast also includes Indy Lewis, Yali Topol Margalith, Ethan Kai, Sam Otto, Oded Fehr, Louis Ferreira, Davood Ghadami, Ashraf Barhom, and Alexander Uloom.
In Season Three, David’s journey comes full circle from outcast shepherd to fierce warrior to his ultimate destiny as King. But before the throne, there is exile. David is a hunted outlaw, forced to hide among his enemies and live yet another dangerous lie. This chapter explores the true cost of destiny — the betrayals endured, the identities shed, and the sacrifices demanded of a hero before he can rise to the throne.
While Amazon and Wonder Project have not announced plans to end House of David after its third season, the upcoming chapter of the character’s story depicts the fall of King Saul and David’s ascension to becoming the King of Israel. These events usually mark the end of David’s story. Still, with so many people tuning in, I would not put it past the studios to find a way to continue David’s story. How they would pull that off remains a mystery, but if they’re hungry enough for that sweet faith-based dollar, they’ll find a way.
