HBO drops the first trailer for House of the Dragon Season 2

HBO has unveiled the trailer for the second season of House of the Dragon, which is set to debut on HBO this summer.

HBO has had a banner showing at this year’s CCXP in Brazil, launching the trailer for season two of House of the Dragon.

House of the Dragon’s official X page teased the impending trailer just yesterday, saying it would be “coming with fire and blood”, which is fitting since newly released character posters boasted “Fire to Fire” (on Rhaenyra Targaryen’s) and “Blood for Blood” (on Alicent Hightower’s). Now that the trailer for season two has arrived, there’s no doubt that fans will be anticipating the flames and bloodshed. Miraculously, House of the Dragon wasn’t affected by the Writers Guild of America or the SAG-AFTRA strikes this year, as all of the scripts had been written prior to the WGA strike that launched in May and the production dealt more with local unions than the actors guild. Of note, the stunt team was nominated for their Screen Actors Guild Award.

The first season finale of House of the Dragon proved to be HBO’s biggest ratings hit since the finale of Game of Thrones, making a second season a high priority for the network. While the hope was to launch it in 2023, the various strikes brought the show to a standstill but not it seems poised for a triumphant return, even if the second season runs a disappointingly scant eight episodes.
