Hugh Jackman at 8,000 calories/day prepping for Wolverine

Hugh Jackman is again becoming a jacked man, taking in around 8,000 calories a day to reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.

Hugh Jackman Wolverine

Earlier this year, Hugh Jackman said it would take six months to get back in shape to play Wolverine. Now, we’re checking in on him and, judging by his diet, he’s well on his way to be bulked up enough to reprise the character.

Hugh Jackman recently took to Instagram to flaunt not his Wolverine abs and biceps, but his chicken and potato intake, posting photos of takeout containers holding his daily diet. He captioned it, “Verified Bulking. A day in the life. Thank you Chef Mario for helping me stay healthy and properly fed whilst … Becoming. Wolverine. Again.” Surely followers will be getting some gym selfies in the near future.

The images show two portions of grass-fed top sirloin with noodles, two chickpea burgers with sweet potatoes, black bass with veggie rice and herb spice, and Patagonia chinook salmon with potatoes and hot sauce, for a grand total of 8,300 calories. That’s almost eight Triple Chocolate Meltdowns from Applebee’s–although that won’t quite give Hugh Jackman the Wolverine bod he needs. For comparison, Jonathan Majors was at 6,100 calories per day for Sundance sensation Magazine Dreams, which must be why he looked so puny in it…

Hugh Jackman of course will be reprising his role as Wolverine in the much-anticipated Deadpool 3, portraying the character on the big screen for the first time since 2017’s Logan. It will be his eighth outing as the Marvel character. Backed by the ongoing faux-feud between both Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, the dynamic between the two is certainly one of the most anticipated aspects of the movie. Oh, and they’ll also be “punching the shit out of each other the whole time”, which we’re sure they’re ready to do after all of the hazing.

Hugh Jackman will have plenty of time to continue bulking up for Wolverine, as his latest Broadway run in The Music Man concluded in January and Deadpool 3 isn’t set to hit theaters until November 8th, 2024.
