Deadpool 3 was already one of the most anticipated movies of 2024, but when Hugh Jackman signed on to reprise his role as Wolverine, it immediately shot towards the top. But Jackman can’t just whip himself into that shredded physique. It will take time…around half a year.

On a new episode of Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?, Hugh Jackman revealed that, while he’s in shape (come on, he’s Hugh Jackman), it will still take some time to get into full Wolverine mode. “I’ve learned you can’t rush it. I’ve learned that it takes time…So, we have six months from when I finish [Broadway’s The Music Man] to when I started filming. And I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months.”

Hugh Jackman continued, “I’m really fit right now. There’s one thing that about eight shows a week being on Broadway singing and dancing, is I’m fit. So, I’m healthy. I have a good place to start. And apologies, chickens. Run a mile. Start running now because I’m coming for you.” Hear that, chickens? Run a mile and you’ll be well on your way to looking like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine!

Hugh Jackman has portrayed Wolverine aka Logan seven times before, beginning with 2000’s X-Men. Next year’s Deadpool 3 will mark his eighth outing. The pairing of Jackman and Ryan Reynolds is definitely one to catch, with an expected onscreen dynamic that, as Jackman put it, “How do I categorize it? Ten being really close, zero being the reality, we’re zero, we’re opposites, hate each other.”

Jackman has been itching to don the claws once more ever since he saw the first Deadpool, stating, “I went to a screening of Deadpool…I was 20 minutes in, and I was like, ‘Ah, damn it!’ All I kept seeing in my head was 48 Hours with Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy. So it’s been brewing for a long time. It just took me longer to get here.”
