Hulu adds HBO just in time for the Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Light the signal fires, sound the alarm horns, and ready your deadliest armaments, because Hulu is adding HBO and Cinemax to its lineup just in time for the GAME OF THRONES Season 7 premiere!

That's right, Hulu folk! Starting today, subscribers of the service can stream all of HBO's series, theatrical films, documentaries, sports, comedy and music specials – both live and on demand – on Hulu for $14.99 a month. For an additional $9.99 per month, viewers can also enjoy the wonders of Cinemax programming. Or, simply subscribe to HBO Now, the cable network's standalone online streaming series for the same price. It's up to you, so do whatever you feel.

While commenting on the unveiling of HBO's inclusion on the Hulu service, Tim Connolly, Senior Vice President, Head of Distribution and Partnerships at Hulu said, “By combining HBO’s iconic programming with our world class user experience and deep content offering, Hulu is giving viewers easy and highly personalized access to the very best of television. “With this important new partnership, fans can now watch GAME OF THRONES live every Sunday, binge watch all six seasons of THE SOPRANOS or catch up on WESTWORLD alongside our live TV, sports, classic TV shows and Hulu originals – all without ever having to leave the Hulu app.”

Also lending her voice to the deal was Sofia Chang, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Digital Distribution and Home Entertainment, HBO who said, "Hulu has been a pioneer in the television streaming business, building a robust user base by offering top-tier programming from a variety of networks. We see them as the perfect partner to help us fulfill our promise to HBO fans, bringing our unparalleled programming to audiences in the most sophisticated, convenient and innovative ways.”

So here's how it all breaks down: East and west coast live feeds of HBO and Cinemax will be available to Hulu viewers on supported devices. Subscribers who purchase the HBO add-on through Hulu will also be provided access to HBO NOW through their Hulu account. Additional live channels HBO 2, HBO Family, HBO Latino, HBO Comedy, HBO Signature HD, HBO Zone, MoreMAX HD, ActionMAX HD, ThrillerMAX HD, MovieMAX HD, 5StarMAX HD and OuterMAX HD will become each available within the add-ons to Hulu viewers in the near future.

There you have it, Hulu and HBO fans! It's my understanding that, anyone who really wants to watch GAME OF THRONES live has already shelled out some coin for access to HBO Go, but hey, this is a fantastic opportunity for Hulu users to sample some of the premiere channel's other wares as well. I like the idea of having more movies available to me from outside of what Hulu already provides, and I'm always down for a good music special. Anyway, enjoy your shiny, new Hullu service!

GAME OF THRONES Season 7 will premiere on HBO, and now Hulu, on July 16th!
