Ian Colletti cast as Arseface in AMC’s Preacher pilot

I was introduced to “Preacher” late in its run but I still remember the exact moment I became aware of the series. I stumbled across a depiction of Arseface painted by Glenn Fabry and instantly knew that I had to find out what this series was all about. I was not disappointed.

The casting for AMC’s Preacher series has been picking up steam as of late; first it was rumoured that Dominic Cooper was the front-runner for the role of Jesse Custer, but our first official casting came just this morning when it was announced that Ruth Negga had landed the role of Tulip O'Hare. Thankfully we didn’t have to wait very long until the next casting scoop as Deadline has revealed that Ian Colletti has been cast as Arseface. Unlike the comic series in which I don't believe we ever learned Arseface's full name, his name on AMC's series will be Eugene Root.

The makeup is something which will really make or break this character but as I learned today, the makeup has actually been successfully attempted years ago by Vincent Guastini. Check it out!

Despite his appearance, Arseface was one of the few genuinely decent characters from the series; he was just a sweet young man with a good heart who unfortunately found himself severely deformed after failing to commit suicide with a shotgun. "Shoulda put it in your mouth, you dumb little f*ck." was his father’s reaction. Charming.

Preacher is being written by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin with both Rogen and Goldberg expected to direct the pilot this summer. Should it be picked up we could expect to see the series premiere sometime in 2016.
