Eli Roth’s Ice Cream Man gets September digital release date

Eli Roth’s bloody new horror movie Ice Cream Man is coming home just in time for the start of fall. Following its theatrical release earlier this month, the horror comedy will be available to buy or rent digitally on September 22, 2026.

The movie previously opened in theaters on August 7, 2026, with Iconic Events Releasing bringing it to more than 2,000 North American screens. The digital release gives horror fans who missed its theatrical run another opportunity to check out Roth’s latest blood-soaked genre experiment. The movie runs for 86 minutes and is Not Rated.

JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols gave the film a 4/10 review that can be read HERE.

What Is Ice Cream Man About?

Written and directed by Eli Roth, Ice Cream Man follows a mysterious ice cream vendor who rolls into an idyllic town and begins handing out sweet treats to local children. There’s just one problem: the desserts have horrifying effects. As more kids consume the treats, they descend into increasingly violent madness. Before long, the children embark on a bloody killing spree, sending the entire town into chaos and exposing a much darker secret lurking beneath the seemingly innocent summer setting.

The film is based on an original idea Roth has reportedly had for more than 20 years. Roth wrote the screenplay with Noah Belson.

The new movie is also not connected to the 1995 horror film Ice Cream Man starring Clint Howard. Instead, Roth is using the familiar image of the neighborhood ice cream truck as the starting point for an entirely new horror story.

Who Stars in Ice Cream Man?

Ari Millen (Orphan Black) stars as the mysterious Ice Cream Man. The cast also includes Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O’Reilly, Kiori Mirza Waldman, Sarah Abbott, Benjamin Byron Davis, Karen Cliche, Dylan Hawco, Charlie Storey, and Eli Roth.

Roth also produces alongside Kate Harrison Karman, Christopher Woodrow, and Raj B. Singh. The film’s score comes from Brandon Roberts, with additional music by Snoop Dogg, while Steve Newburn and Adrien Morot handled the special effects.

What Bonus Features Are Included?

The digital release comes with several behind-the-scenes featurettes, giving fans a look at how Roth brought his killer ice cream truck to life. The bonus material includes:

  • Ice Cream Man: The Backstory — Roth and the filmmakers discuss the movie’s origins, its twisted Pied Piper inspiration, and the horror movies that influenced the project.
  • The Ice Cream Truck — A behind-the-scenes look at the film’s creepy ice cream truck, bizarre treats, mascot, and unsettling jingle.
  • Kidpocalypse — A look at the practical effects and prosthetic work used to create the movie’s gruesome child-driven carnage.

The digital release also includes an audio commentary featuring Eli Roth and co-writer Noah Belson.

Ice Cream Man is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

After finally bringing his long-gestating Thanksgiving feature to theaters in 2023, Roth had been expected to move forward with Thanksgiving 2. When that project was delayed, he instead used the opportunity to make Ice Cream Man, turning an idea he had been sitting on for decades into a feature film. And if you like your horror with plenty of practical gore, murderous kids, and an ice cream truck that you shouldn’t approach, Ice Cream Man is ready to make its home video debut on September 22.
