Idris Elba commands the screen and armies in the Beasts of No Nation trailer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

BEASTS OF NO NATION is based on the novel by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala, bringing to life the gripping tale of Agu, a child soldier torn from his family to fight in the civil war of an African country. Directed by Emmy Award winner Cary Fukunaga (True Detective), the film stars Idris Elba as Commandant, a warlord who takes in Agu and instructs him in the ways of war. Witness the commanding presence of Elba in the first trailer below.

This film has picked up a bit of controversy regarding the fact it's being distributed by Netflix, although that shouldn't get in the way of how gripping the film looks. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be tuning in on October 16th to watch Fukunaga's latest, but if you'd like to check it out in a theater, it will be playing in Landmark theatre markets that include: New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Houston, Dallas, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco and San Diego. Otherwise, it's the smaller screens for the rest of us!

BEASTS OF NO NATION hits Netflix and limited theaters on October 16, 2015.
