Apple has emerged as the winner of an auction for an untitled Africa-set spy thriller starring Idris Elba. In addition to leading the film, Elba will also produce, alongside Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon. Writing the script is The Daily Show's Travon Free, who's also written for programs like Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Hood Adjacent with James Davis, and Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons.

Recently Elba completed his work on CONCRETE COWBOY. Directed and co-written by Ricky Staub, with Dan Walser, the drama tells the story of a teenager who discovers the world of urban horseback riding when he moves in with his estranged father in North Philadelphia. He's also set to appear in James Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD, which this morning announced its plans to host a panel at DC Fandome on August 22, at 12PM (Encores at 8PM, 4AM). During the event, James Gunn will field a series of fan questions, then bring out Task Force X for a fast-paced, no-holds-barred Squad Showdown that tests every team member’s Squad knowledge — and survival skills!

Also in post-production is THE HARDER THEY FALL, a Western drama from director Jeymes Samuel that stars Elba alongside Laz Alonso, Jonathan Majors, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, RJ Cyler, Mustafa Shakir, and Mark Rhino Smith. In the film, a man looks to exact revenge against the guy who murdered his parents.

Be sure to catch Elba when he enters DC's Fandome on August 22, 2020. We'll be following along with the event, and will be sure to bring you all the highlights that emerge from the big show.
