When I got the email in my inbox that Idris Elba was just hired for a part in Disney’s THE JUNGLE BOOK, I immediately in my head said “Shere Khan.” When I clicked over to the site, there it was…

Idris Elba is in final negotiations to perform the role and provide the voice of the killer tiger Shere Khan in Disney’s live-action take on The Jungle Book.”

My eyes got wide, and I was immediately super excited. How perfect is this?! I’m devastated I didn’t come up with this idea so I could selfishly take credit for it. Elba will get to put his fantastic voice to the tiger who spends his time in story stalking Mowgli. The film directed by Jon Favreau will be both live-action and VFX. Warner Bros. are also trying to get a competition JUNGLE BOOK flick off the ground because of this Disney is on the fast track with theirs. Warner Bros. is still on the hunt for a director after Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu left the adaptation.

If you are worried about the VFX, you should know its in good hands. Rob Legato whose credits include AVATAR, THE WOLF OF WALL STREET, HUGO, and TITANIC will be in charge.

Anyone else think this is perfect voice casting?
