Though there was never really any doubt in my mind, it’s good to see that Lars Von Trier’s ANTICHRIST has found itself a distributor for here in the States, and we’ll definitely be able to get a peek at this supposed abomination… The film, which just blew people’s faces off at Cannes, had distribution deals pretty much in every other territory outside of the U.S.. Now, we’ll get to see what some are calling appalling, and some are calling brilliant. Sounds like a Von Trier movie to me!
Just the other day, my man Mr. Ammon told you about the ruckus ANTICHRIST has stirred up at Cannes, with its scenes of mutilation, torture, and maybe worst of all, a talking fox (!). Von Trier has gleefully been taking in all the harsh reviews, as the man lives for this kind of muckraking. Whether or not the flick is actually worth seeing, well, remains to be seen. It would appear as though IFC saw some merit in it however, and might be banking on the hype and controversy surrounding the film to help pull in some dough. No word yet on just when it’ll be released, but as it’s hitting everywhere else this summer, we might be seeing it as early as June.
As per usual, IFC might launch it ONDEMAND around the same time it hits theaters. We’ll let you know as soon as we know when this bastard is coming out.
