It was just over a year ago when we first heard about a project that was being called SHUT IN but has since been re-titled INTRUDERS. Directed by Adam Schindler from a screenplay by T.J. Cimfel and David White, with a cast including Beth Riesgraf, Rory Culkin, Martin Starr, and Jack Kesy, the film tells the story of
a woman who suffers from agoraphobia so crippling that when a trio of criminals break into her house, she cannot bring herself to flee. But what the intruders don’t realize is that agoraphobia is not her only psychosis.
We have followed its progress through AFM and its festival premiere, and now I am happy to report that it has been picked up for distribution by Momentum Pictures, who are planning to release it on VOD platforms and into a limited number of theatres on January 15, 2016.
INTRUDERS was produced by Steven Schneider, Jeff Rice, Lati Grobman, and Erik Olsen, with Christa Campbell, Matthew Lamothe, Tommy Vlahopoulos, Brian Netto, and Rob Van Norden executive producing.
This sounds like a very interesting movie and I’m looking forward to seeing it, but I’m not sure about the new title INTRUDERS. Sure, it seems to be appropriate, but there is already a crazy number of movies called INTRUDER or INTRUDERS, you always have to specify which one you’re talking about when the title is mentioned in conversation. As of right now, the only movie with a variation on this title you would hear me talking about is Scott Spiegel’s 1989 supermarket slasher INTRUDER, but hopefully I’ll enjoy this INTRUDERS enough to start referencing it sometimes, too.
