After the enormous success of Obsession, everyone wanted a piece of Inde Navarrette, and suddenly there were rumours that she had been offered roles in all sorts of movies, including Michael Mann’s Heat 2. She ultimately was cast as Rogue in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie, but there’s been speculation that she had to turn down a role in Heat 2 to do so.

Inde Navarrette on Heat 2

While chatting on The Kyle Buchanan Show earlier this week, Navarrette laid that rumour to rest, explaining that she never turned down a role in Heat 2…before she had never been offered one.

“I’m glad that you brought it up because I can say it. No, I was not offered Heat 2,” she said. “I auditioned, I want to say, for two months from April all the way up until — I don’t know if it had gotten cast, but it was just kind of no longer a conversation.“

She continued, “I remember I sent in multiple self tapes, different self tapes. I was like, ‘What do you like? What do you not like?’ I mean, it’s with an insane cast and even if it was as small of a character. I just wanted to learn. Definitely didn’t say no. That’s one of those opportunities where no matter how big you get, you’re still gonna get told no.“

Heat 2 Has Quite the Cast

Much like the original 1995 movie, the Heat sequel has assembled a very impressive cast. Leonardo DiCaprio will play Chris Shiherlis (originally played by Val Kilmer), Christian Bale will play Vincent Hanna (originally played by Al Pacino), and Stephen Graham will play Neil McCauley (originally played by Robert De Niro). Jason Clarke, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Odessa Young are rounding out the rest of the cast.

Graham recently said that production should kick off in January 2027.

Marvel’s X-Men

In addition to Navarrette as Rogue, the cast of Marvel’s X-Men movie includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister.

Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier is helming X-Men, which Marvel has slated for a May 5, 2028 release.
