Indiana Jones 5: Antonio Banderas joins the cast

It may have taken some time to get started, but production on Indiana Jones 5 is currently underway and it's never too late for someone new to join the cast. It was just revealed that Antonio Banderas will be joining Harrison Ford in the much-anticipated sequel, but unfortunately, details behind his character are being kept under wraps at this time.

The film officially started shooting last month, and thanks to a handful of set-photos, we're starting to get a hint of what the film might be about. Unfortunately, the production hasn't gone without incident as Harrison Ford was forced to step away from shooting due to a shoulder injury. "In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder," read a Disney press-release. "Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks."

Indiana Jones 5 will once again find Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role, and in addition to Antonio Banderas, he'll also be joined by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones and Shaunette Renée Wilson. That's quite the cast, and I'm excited to see what sort of adventure Indy has gotten himself into this time. James Mangold is directing from a script he co-wrote with Jez and John-Henry Butterworth. The film is slated to hit theaters on July 29, 2022.
