For a very long time, one of my favorite actors has always been Colin Farrell. Even in his early career, he was incredibly charismatic. And lately, the man is working quite a lot. And we’re lucky for it. With the upcoming second season premiere of his latest series Sugar, Farrell’s John Sugar takes on a new, and perhaps quite relevant, storyline. It’s such a smart series. The mix of humor and tense action, as well as excellent performances from all involved.
Let me add something here. As I mentioned, Farrell is one of my favorite actors. More importantly, perhaps, he is one of the kindest and most sincere people I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know in the couple of decades I’ve been doing this. Colin is warm, funny, and just a wonderful person. And he is genuine. Having had the chance to speak to him outside of the business of show, I absolutely confirm how damn cool this man is. And my goodness, he’s making great choices.
During this conversation, Colin discussed the heart of Sugar. Having binged both seasons beforehand, the motion picture element works wonderfully. And yes, we discussed the reveal at the end of season one, and just how well it works here. During the interview, he spoke of my favorite scenes in the entire series. It is a simple moment at a bar, and John Sugar’s kindness to the bartender. I loved that moment. In fact, I love the show. And Colin is fantastic in it.
