Peter Segal seems to have a knack for working with top comic talent and making a hit movie or two along the way. Whether it be working with Adam Sandler in THE LONGEST YARD, ANGER MANAGEMENT or 50 FIRST DATES, or Eddie Murphy in THE NUTTY PROFESSOR 2: THE KLUMPS, he has a connection with funny people making funny movies. And now, he leads Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne Johnson and Alan Arkin to steal a few laughs on their own in GET SMART. Yes it is another “revamping” of an old television series and they tend not to translate all that well on the big screen, yet with Mr. Carell attempting to fill Don Adams shoes as Maxwell Smart (who is anything but), I’m hoping there are a few guffaws in store.
Recently, at a Q & A held at the Apple Store in Santa Monica, California, Peter and a couple of the films co-stars including Ken Davitian (as moderator) and Dwayne Johnson came to chat about the film. And thanks to Warner Bros., we got a chance to go 1 on 1 with these incredibly nice guys. I really enjoyed talking to Peter about the film and how much he enjoys working for laughs. He is a genuinely nice and very interesting guy. And you can see his latest flick, GET SMART, coming June 20th to a theatre near you.
