INT: Shane Acker

Imagine creating a short film and finding yourself working on expanding the world you created with people like Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov. Imagine achieving an Academy Award for this same little film and finding yourself casting talented actors like Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, Christopher Plummer and Martin Landau when the original had not a single voice actor. Well that is exactly where director Shane Acker found himself with 9.

I sat down with Shane and discussed how this all happened. He was genuine and an incredibly down to earth fellow. I’m happy to say that Shane has created a wonderfully inventive feature film and it is not surprising that the original version is also quite terrific (check it out). While this time the monsters are bigger and the scares are a little scarier, this is a true rebirth of an original idea. So starting today, I highly recommend seeing 9.
