As I think is almost always the case, the best stuff I ever get at a press day is always before the cameras are rolling. When I arrived to interview PAUL writers and stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, they were having trouble with my wireless mic so the three of us had a good five minutes to sit and chat. (Sorry it’s all off the record.) We talked about how exhausted they were (Simon had just gotten in on a plane from shooting MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE) and this was only the beginning of their epic PAUL promotional tour.
But tired or not, we finally got the mic attached (which involved some poor woman having her hand up my shirt for a few minutes) and got talking about how Simon and Nick adapt their real life relationship into their characters, working with the CGI Paul and much more!
