Trailer released for Shirley starring Invisible Man’s Elizabeth Moss

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Elizabeth Moss was a revelation in INVISIBLE MAN – strong, vulnerable, and achingly human. And while I've been impressed with her since MAN MEN, that performance was such a powerhouse that I'll now give any movie she star's in a chance. Which won't be for much longer, as she currently stars in the award-winning SHIRLEY, playing the real-life horror writer Shirley Jackson, who in the film

is on the precipice of writing her masterpiece when the arrival of newlyweds upends her meticulous routine and heightens tensions in her already tempestuous relationship with her philandering husband. The middle-aged couple, prone to ruthless barbs and copious afternoon cocktails, begins to toy mercilessly with the naïve young couple at their door.

NEON (who is releasing the film) has also unveiled a new trailer for the film, which looks great to me! Again, Moss's performance looks exquisite, but the trailer is also full of such angst and tension, that if the film itself can tap into even 10% of that, it will definitely be worth a watch in my opinion.

Meanwhile SHIRLEY, also starring Logan Lerman, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Odessa Young, and directed by Josephine Decker, will be available everywhere June 5th.

So what do you guys think? Anyone read any of Shirley Jackson's writings? Either way, sound off below!
