Is Cameron Diaz back to retirement after Back in Action?

Although Cameron Diaz came out of retirement for the action-comedy Back in Action, she may be back out of action soon enough, as sources are suggesting her latest movie could be her last.

According to a source, Cameron Diaz may have stepped back onto the movie set a little too soon, even after not being on the big screen for nearly a decade. “These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her and she hates being away from [daughter] Raddix…Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.”

Now 50, Diaz hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2014, when she starred in Annie, The Other Woman and Sex Tape. Cameron Diaz previously discussed her retirement (which she announced in 2018), saying she wanted to have more control of her life, saying, “When you do something at a really high level for a long period of time, other parts of you have to sort of be handed off to other people…For me, I just really wanted to make my life manageable by me. My routine in a day is literally what I can manage to do by myself.”

Cameron Diaz also had a more maternal response as to why she decided to enter an early retirement. “I couldn’t imagine being a mom now, where I’m at as a mother with my child at her first year, to have to be on a movie set that takes 14 hours, 16 hours of my day away from my child”, referring to her aforementioned daughter, who she has with Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden.

While Back in Action may or may not be Cameron Diaz’s last movie before another retirement, she has left an indelible mark as a goofy sex symbol, proving a charismatic presence in movies like The Mask, There’s Something About Mary, Charlie’s Angels, Vanilla Sky, and more.

Although no official release date has been announced, Back in Action is expected to begin streaming on Netflix sometime this year.

How would you feel about Cameron Diaz going into retirement (yet again)? What is your favorite Diaz movie and/or performance? Let us know!
