Paul Thomas Anderson’s films are always a breath of fresh air. His eye for detail and perfect ability to catch a moment paired with an amazing score are something to admire. If I loved this man anymore it would be awkward.
The theatrical trailer for THE MASTER finally debuted last night. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that this film is going to be amazing. While I think that Joaquin Phoenix will do an excellent job, I have to wonder what it would be like to see Jeremy Renner in his place. Oh, and the Scientology parallels are in there. A charismatic intellectual (Hoffman) launches a religious organization following World War II. A drifter (Phoenix) becomes his right-hand man but as the faith begins to gain a fervent following, the drifter finds himself questioning the belief system and his mentor.
