It Follows director doing a “new take on superheroes” with Heroes & Villains

IT FOLLOWS is one of my favorite horror movies in the last decade – which is saying a lot as there have been MANY great horror films in the last couple years alone. But between the unique monster, the great performances, and the unnerving sense of existential dread that permeated throughout the film, made it into something truly special. And that's mostly thanks to the writer/director of the film, David Robert Mitchell.

Now, while his second feature – the quirky, noir send up UNDER THE SILVER LAKE – was divisive (to say the least), it still nonetheless was visually interesting and had a clear, unique voice. So I'll always look forward to whatever his next project is…and it looks like won't have to wait much longer as his next film is – according to THR – is "a genre-blending and genre-bending project that…is described as a new take on superheroes" called HEROES & VILLAINS.

Sounds cool to me! Then again, I'm genuinely a fan of most superhero movies (I can even find merit in things like DAREDEVIL and BATMAN & ROBIN), so the idea of someone adding some unique flavor to an increasingly bland genre is something I'm predisposed to be into.

Now, obviously no official release or start date announced as of yet, but sources say the script is already finished and that casting is said to be commencing shortly.

But what do you guys think? You a fan of Mitchell's work? If so, looking forward to his take on superheroes? Either way, sound off below!
