At the start of the year, it was announced that the Jackass gang would be reuniting for Jackass 5, another installment of the long-running franchise that has left its cast with broken bones, shattered teeth, and ruptured testicles. I know, why wouldn’t you want to do that for the rest of your life, but Johnny Knoxville told Rolling Stone that this will be the last movie.
“This will be the last one,” Knoxville said. “This is the natural place to end. So it’s going to be absolutely awful.” It’s been over 25 years since the series began, and with much of the cast now in their 50s, perhaps it’s a good time to bring it all to a close.
The film is gearing up to start shooting, and Knoxville says they’ve got the majority of the stunts figured out, but there’s always room for more. “We got it about 80 percent figured out,” he said. “We’ll figure out the rest when we get there. Sometimes we have rainy-day ideas, when we can’t shoot what we were going to shoot. One day it was just, ‘OK, go get Superglue!’ We got a great bit just with me and the guys messing around with Superglue.“
He also teased that they have something planned for Dave England’s one testicle. “We do have an idea around that that we’ve been trying to shoot for 15 years, and we’re trying to pull off our white whale for Jackass 5,” he said. “I don’t want to give it away.“
Bam Margera was dismissed from the last movie, but he will be seen in Jackass 5 in never-before-seen archival footage.
The new film is coming a lot sooner than we think, as Knoxville previously announced a June 26 release. “Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang,” he said. “We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!! We will see you in theatres June 26th. More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!!“
