Jake Gyllenhaal to join Ryan Reynolds & Rebecca Ferguson in Life

Daniel Espinosa's upcoming film LIFE combines an interesting sounding sci-fi premise with a fun and talented cast, but that cast has undergone a bit of a shakeup. LIFE was set to star Rebecca Ferguson (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION) and Ryan Reynolds (DEADPOOL), but unfortunately scheduling conflicts with Reynolds' upcoming HITMAN'S BODYGUARD led to the actor having to give up the lead role.

Variety reports that Jake Gyllenhaal has joined LIFE to take over Reynolds vacated role, but don't count Ryan Reynolds out of LIFE just yet; insiders say that he will remain involved with the project but take on a smaller supporting role. What if LIFE all about you may ask? Aside from love, family, and 42, the upcoming film will follow "the crew of the International Space Station, who, after retrieving a sample from Mars, discover that it displays signs of life, and proves to be more intelligent than expected." Sounds like a good time to me. The script for LIFE comes from DEADPOOL screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.

As for upcoming projects, Rebecca Ferguson will be appearing in THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN opposite Emily Blunt, THE SNOWMAN opposite Michael Fassbender, and is said to be reprising her role of Ilsa Faust in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6. Jake Gyllenhaal stars in Jean-Marc Vallee’s upcoming DEMOLITION, which opens on April 8, 2016 and is set to star in David Gordon Green's Boston Marathon bombing film STRONGER. In addition to HITMAN'S BODYGUARD, Ryan Reynolds will appear alongside Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, and Tommy Lee Jones in CRIMINAL, which opens on April 15, 2016, as well as the upcoming DEADPOOL sequel.
