Before you start thinking that this Amazon competition series will be choosing the next James Bond, that’s not the case… at least not yet. Variety has reported that Prime Video has greenlit 007’s Road to a Million, a James Bond-style race around the world competition series produced by 72 Films.

007’s Road to a Million will see “contestants competing in a global adventure to win a £1 million ($1.3 million) cash prize. Filmed in many of the historic locations featured throughout the seminal Bond films, the ‘cinematic format’ will be a test of intelligence and endurance. In addition to passing physical obstacles, the contestants — who will compete in two-person teams — must correctly answer questions hidden in different locations around the world in order to advance to the next challenge.” Franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson will produce the James Bond competition series for Prime Video alongside 72 Films and MGM Television.

Amazon’s acquisition of MGM for a cool $8.5 billion officially went through last week, but this James Bond series has been in the works for several years. David Glover, CEO of 72 Films, said he “first had this idea over three years ago. Dan Grabiner and the U.K. Originals team took it to a whole other level. To be working with Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and the Bond franchise is a privilege and a dream come true.” Production on the eight-part series is set to begin later this year. Casting is also underway and potential contestants can send in submissions right here. Now that Daniel Craig’s tenure as James Bond has ended with the release of No Time to Die, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson must now find a new actor to take on the role; a task I certainly don’t envy.
