James Mangold picking up the snap on the Joe Namath biopic?

JoBloJoBlo

It’s been over two years now since we last heard about the Joe Namath biopic, which is apparently still set to star Jake Gyllenhaal as the former New York Jet and ’60s cultural icon.

But now Pajiba has word that director James Mangold (KNIGHT AND DAY, WALK THE LINE) is “circling” the project – now ingeniously being called NAMATH – written by David Hollander (PERSONAL EFFECTS, “The Guardian”) over at Universal. Pajiba points out that both Mangold and Gyllenhaal will both have holes in their schedules after both their current films are completed (KNIGHT AND DAY and Duncan Jones’s SOURCE CODE respectively), so the timing may be right for them to come together. They also state that Universal wants to take another pass at Hollander’s script.

Will this happen or not? Stay tuned for more info as it comes. Meanwhile, enjoy Farrah Fawcett and Joe’s copious body hair:
