James Wan’s new horror movie starts shooting this Fall

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I think it's more than safe to say every single horror movie fan out there in the world today knows who the hell James Wan is. From directing fright flicks such as THE CONJURING, SAW, and INSIDIOUS, to helming big budgets movies such as AQUAMAN and FURIOUS 7, Wan is as close to a household name as a horror movie director gets. And speaking of Wan, today we hear his untitled New Line horror movie begins shooting this fall!

As you can imagine, plot details are currently being kept under wraps. But that said, we do know that Wan will co-write the script with THE NUN and THE CONJURING 2 actress Ingrid Bisu (see above) who got engaged to Wan back in June.

On top of co-writing and directing this untitled New Line horror movie, Wan will also produce the film through his Atomic Monster banner with Michael Clear. The film is being independently financed through Starlight Media and Midas Innovation, who will retain distribution rights in China. The plan is for Wan to shoot the film in the fall in Los Angeles and then move into pre-production on AQUAMAN 2 in 2020.

Meanwhile, the last horror movie that Wan directed was back in 2016 with THE CONJURING 2 starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson.

That flick centered on:

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren coming out of a self-imposed sabbatical to travel to Enfield, a borough in north London in 1977. There, they meet Peggy Hodgson, an overwhelmed single mother of four who tells the couple that something evil is in her home. Ed and Lorraine believe her story when the youngest daughter starts to show signs of demonic possession. As the Warrens try to help the besieged girl, they become the next targets of the malicious spirit.

While we can only speculate what this new James Wan-directed horror movie will be, I don't think it matters much one way or the other considering we'll all be there no matter what the, you know, actual content of the flick entails. How excited are YOU to hear that James Wan's new horror movie begins shooting this fall?
