Tremors 5: Bloodlines Don Michael Paul Jamie Kennedy

A week ago we shared a quote from actor Jamie Kennedy where he said he was still figuring out whether or not he would be reprising the role of his TREMORS 5: BLOODLINES and TREMORS: A COLD DAY IN HELL character Travis B. Welker in the upcoming sequel TREMORS: ISLAND FURY. Now Kennedy has arrived at the answer. He will not be in the new TREMORS movie.

Kennedy broke the news on his Twitter account, saying

Lot of people have been asking me, so I might as well spill it. I will NOT be in the upcoming TREMORS 7. I had a great time making the last two. But no TRAVIS this time around. But hey you neva’ know what can happen in the future… have a great time boys! Tdawg out!!!"

Intriguingly, he also shared a picture that showed he had received his own watermarked copy of the screenplay written by Brian Brightly, indicating that Travis was in that script. Obviously some kind of issue came up on the path from page to production. Since Kennedy didn't say why he won't be in TREMORS: ISLAND FURY even though Travis was in the script, we can only speculate. Scheduling issues? Kennedy does have stand-up gigs booked through the end of the year with not much time between them. Pay dispute? Creative differences? Only Kennedy and the folks behind the scenes know.

BLOODLINES and A COLD DAY IN HELL director Don Michael Paul is back to direct the new film, which will star Michael Gross as franchise hero Burt Gummer. In Brightly's story,

the deadly Graboids are back, illegally brought in to a new island resort by a rich playboy looking for a trophy hunt.

Filming begins in Thailand next month.

All six previous TREMORS movies can be purchased in this collection. Completists will also want to pick up the episodes of the 2003 TV series.
