Jason Schwartzman talks animation and Netflix’s holiday feature, Klaus!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

When I’d first heard about the upcoming Netflix feature KLAUS, I was a bit skeptical. After all, I’m a bit cynical when it comes to animated holiday movies. However, I’m happy to say that this charming little tale written by Zach Lewis and Jim Mahoney with a story by Sergio Pablos – who also directed the film – is far more engaging than I’d ever imagined. This entertaining fable exploring the tradition of sending Santa a letter is funny and heartfelt with a solid sense of humor, whie it also offers up a pretty impressive cast. The talent involved includes John Cusack, Rashida Jones, J.K. Simmons and Jason Schwartzman, each one adding their own uniqueness to this fun little flick.

Recently, we spent a little time writing our own letter to Santa, in hopes of speaking with man of the hour. Jason Schwartzman is the perfect person to bring the main character of Jesper to life. Jason opened up about the appeal of taking on animated stories, and the freedom that playing in this world can bring to an actor. He also discussed playing this particular role, one that is especially well rounded and enjoyable. The actor brings humor, heart and a bit of quirk to this bright and charmingly engaging flick. And he also happens to be one of the most grounded and kindhearted guys in the business.

With November here, and the holidays coming fast, I highly recommend checking out KLAUS, which opens in limited theaters today and on Netflix November 15th.
