Jason Statham reunites with Guy Ritchie for revenge film Dogfight

Statham and Ritchie

Jason Statham was one of the breakout stars in Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels when the British gangster movie hit the cinema world like a meteor. Statham has since gone on to establish himself as the action star of the modern generation, but every now and then, he will reunite with Ritchie for a collaboration in which he gets to do a bit more than just smash bad guys. The duo have also worked together on Snatch, Revolver, Wrath of Man and Operation Fortune: Rose de Guerre. They reunited months ago for a project titled Viva La Madness (which also reunites them with Vinnie Jones) and now, Variety is reporting that they are set to collaborate on the film Dogfight.

Dogfight

Dogfight has been announced by Netflix as the seventh collaboration between Ritchie and Statham. There hasn’t been much revealed in terms of plot, but the movie is described as a “stylish revenge actioner” set in the London criminal underworld — which feels like it can’t go wrong with these two attached. The production is set to commence sometime in early 2027, with filming taking place in the U.K. Ritchie is set to write, produce and direct.

Black Bear Pictures produces the film along with Ritchie’s own Toff Guy Films and Statham’s Punch Palace Productions. Producers include Ritchie, Statham, Ritchie’s Toff Guy partner Ivan Atkinson and John Friedberg from Black Bear.

Viva La Madness

Meanwhile, you don’t have to wait long to see these two work again as Viva La Madness will likely see a release sometime next year.  The new film is based on a J.J. Connolly novel that is a sequel to his Layer Cake book. However, the confusing part is that the movie, which was written by both Connolly and Ritchie, is not serving as a sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s Layer Cake movie from 2004, which Connolly also wrote. This upcoming Viva La Madness feature is intended to be a standalone film.

The cast will also include Jason Isaacs (White Lotus, Harry Potter), Babs Olusanmokun (Dune, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare), Camila Mendes (Riverdale, Palm Springs), Ben Foster (Motor City, Hell or High Water), Jonny Lee Miller (The Crown, Elementary), and Raúl Alejandro (La Reina del Flow).
