Like the Sylvester Stallone films of the 80s, the Jason Statham action film has almost become a genre unto itself. In theory, this movie has nothing to do with the TRANSPORTER films but if you watched this trailer and the title card came on at the end and said TRANSPORTER 4 would be at all surprised?
The film is basically Jason Statham being Jason Statham, i.e., steel reserve, British accent, kicking your ass, f*cking your woman and a perfect five o’clock shadow. The plot is ostensibly about a hitman training a younger hitman (while Donald Sutherland sports a fairly bitchin beard) but that’s not to say it won’t be enjoyable for what it is. Check out the trailer below and get ready for THE MECHANIC, in theaters this January.
