Javier Bardem & James Franco wanted for Clash sequel Wrath of the Titans?

Didn’t Warner Bros. learn their lesson? Great actors can’t compensate for poor 3D!

Perhaps missing the memo, the major studio is currently casting up its follow up tent-pole, WRATH OF THE TITANS, and rumor has it Javier Bardem (above) and James Franco are among those being sought after. Bardem for the role of Ares, Franco for the role of Agenor.

Both are definitely versatile actors, the question most like becomes how in need of a fatty pay check they are. Remember, Bardem has strong Oscar odds this year with BIUTIFUL, and Franco is making people faint in 127 HOURS – both much smaller, intimate portraits as opposed to a bloated summer spectacle.

Here’s the Production Weekly Twitter entry:

“Rumored casting choices for the Warner Bros. sequel “Wrath of the Titans”, Javier Bardem for Ares & James Franco for the role of Agenor.”

Again, unless these gents wanna change of pace from their grueling last outings…and a hefty Warner Bros. payday to boot…I don’t see either of these cats playing period dress up for a green-screen. Of course, Liam Neeson gave it a go, so…

What do you think?

Bardem’s better half, Penelope Cruz!
