From comedic actor to horror scribe? Alrighty then…

In March of last year we wrote a few articles about Jay Baruchel (KNOCKED UP, SHE’S OUT OF MY LEAGUE) penning a pair of genre projects, one a horror pic called PIG, the other a comedic hybrid called JAY AND SETH VS. THE APOCALYPSE. Well, looks like the dude has another pair of horror projects on the brink…

According to THR, Baruchel is now set to co-write two horror flicks. One is called RANDOM ACTS OF VIOLENCE, which he will adapt. The other is called EXORICSM DIARIES, which he will rewrite. Let’s examine this further…

Based on the Kickstart comic from Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, RANDOM ACTS OF VIOLENCE is the blood-soaked story of two comic creators and their ultimate horror character Slasherman creation gone very wrong. The creators start to see success flowing like a river, but when that river turns bloody and people start dying in the midst of a signing tour, it becomes clear that their creation has taken a life of its own.

Sounds fun, ay? Of course, Plamiotti and Gray wrote JONAH HEX…just sayin’.

EXORCISM DIARIES, which is set up at Summit Entertainment, boasts a tale that centers on a reporter searching for the truth behind the most famous exorcism in history, but soon discovers that the real-life story is not quite finished. As a result, she finds herself in harm’s way of the same supernatural entity that she is chasing.

Baruchel will be aided by his writing partner Jesse Chabot.

Baruchel also wrote GOON, in which he’ll co-star with Alison Pill!
