Nine years after writer Jon Spaihts' spec script PASSENGERS was featured on the Black List as one of the most liked unproduced screenplays on the market, the project has finally made it through production and is set to reach theatres on December 21, 2016. (Read our interview with Spaihts HERE.)

Directed by Morten Tyldum, PASSENGERS tells the following story:

On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim and Aurora face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.

Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence star as the passengers who wake up too soon.

The up side of having this space ship all to themselves is that the craft seems to have a lot of cool things for them to pass the time with, including a swimming pool with one hell of a view. In the first clip the marketing department has chosen to release, Lawrence's character is enjoying this pool when something goes terribly wrong.

This excerpt from the pool sequence promises that the movie will be offering some thrills, and it features special effects and the sight of the leading lady in a swimsuit – when it came to picking a clip to release, they chose wisely.
