We’re getting a bit of a Supernatural reunion. Sort of. It has been announced that Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles will be directing his former co-star Jared Padalecki as he’s set to helm an episode of Padalecki’s CW series Walker.
According to TVLine, Ackles will be directing season 2, episode 7 of Walker. Not much is known about the exact nature of the episode but there will be even more Supernatural reunions going on when Ackles arrives on set. Supernatural’s Mitch Pileggi also stars on Walker and will also be featured in episode 7. Season 2 of Walker is set to premiere Thursday, October 28, 2021.
Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are more than former co-stars. The duo played brothers Sam and Dean Winchester for 15 seasons of Supernatural with the show airing its final episode last November. Playing brothers on screen translated into a relationship that became a brotherhood in real life. Ackles and Padalecki are very close and even their respective wives share in the profound bond that began during their run on Supernatural. While fans want to see them reunite on-screen as actors, this reunion of sorts is a good start for fans hoping for more.
Both actors have kept busy following the end of Supernatural. Walker was picked up to series to premiere following the end of Supernatural for Padalecki and Ackles was cast as Soldier Boy on season 3 of Amazon’s hit series The Boys, which just wrapped filming this month. Ackles is also in early development on a spinoff of Supernatural for The CW.
Walker, which premiered on January 21, 2021, to record numbers for The CW, is a reboot of the Chuck Norris series Walker, Texas Rangers. The show follows a widowed father (Padalecki) returning to Austin, Texas, to reconnect with his children and investigate the circumstances around his wife’s death. The series also stars Lindsey Morgan, Molly Hagan, and Keegan Allen.
