Any blokes across the pond catch Michael Winterbottom’s THE KILLER INSIDE ME the last week or so it’s been in theaters? If so, what’s the verdict?
While I certainly plan on reading any comments you may have, they’ll only have to tide me over for a mere two days or so, as flick rolls into limited U.S. theaters this Friday (June 18th). Yes, I wanna see it that bad!
And only hiking my fervor is a new one-sheet for the film, which boasts the always sexy, newly MILF-ified Jessica Alba, who plays a character named Joyce Lakeland. The poster’s not too dissimilar to one we saw a week or so ago featuring Casey Affleck’s tormented Lou. I wouldn’t be too surprised if a few other character posters unroll in the next few days.
Based on the novel by legendary pulp writer Jim Thompson, Michael Winterbottom’s THE KILLER INSIDE ME tells the story of handsome, charming, unassuming small town sheriff’s deputy Lou Ford.
Lou has a bunch of problems. Woman problems. Law enforcement problems. An ever-growing pile of murder victims in his West Texas jurisdiction. And the fact he’s a sadist, a psychopath, a killer. Suspicion begins to fall on Lou, and it’s only a matter of time before he runs out of alibis. But in Thompson’s savage, bleak, blacker than noir universe nothing is ever what it seems, and it turns out that the investigators pursuing him might have a secret of their own.
Simon Baker, Kate Hudson, Ned Beatty, Elias Koteas, Bill Pullman, Brent Briscoe and Tom Bower round out a superior ensemble.
