Jessica Henwick: Lana Wachowski’s The Matrix 4 will be an industry changer

Very little is known about the approach director Lana Wachowski is taking to THE MATRIX 4. We know that some dead characters from the previous films have somehow been resurrected, but it hasn't been revealed how. Whatever the story is, the script has been described as "beautiful" and "very intelligent". Cast member Neil Patrick Harris has said that Wachowski's visual style has "shifted" since working on the initial trilogy, and now Harris's fellow cast member Jessica Henwick has implied that Wachowski's new style is going to be an industry changer.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Henwick said,

There are definitely moment on set where Yahya [Abdul-Mateen II] and I look at each other and we just go, 'MATRIX 4'. Those pinch me moments. Yeah. Lana is doing some really interesting things on a technical level in the same way that you know, she created a style back then. I think she's going to change the industry again with this film. There's some camera rigs that I've never seen before that we're using. That's probably all I can say for that."

That definitely sounds like something to look forward to.

THE MATRIX 4 is scheduled to reach screens on December 22, 2021, and when it does we'll be seeing Harris, Henwick, and Abdul-Mateen share scenes with returning franchise stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Daniel Bernhardt, as well as franchise newcomers Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Eréndira Ibarra, Jonathan Groff, Andrew Caldwell, Ellen Hollman, Brian J. Smith, Max Riemelt, and Chris Sean Reid.

Lana Wachowski is directing THE MATRIX 4 from a screenplay she wrote with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell.
