Via a press release just sent to us we learn that BUBBA HO-TEP writer Joe R. Lansdale is about to see another one of his works get the big-screen treatment: CHRISTMAS WITH THE DEAD. And no, it’s not about spending the holidays with your family.
The flick is based on a short story written by Lansdale which is due to be published in early 2011. Lansdale will executive produce while Brian James Fitzpatrick (THROWAWAY) shall direct. Damian Maffei will play the lead role.
There’s no detailed synopsis yet, but this is what came with the press release; should give you an idea of what kind of story we’re dealing with: “It was a foolish thing to do, and Calvin had not bothered with it the past two years, not since the death of his wife and child. But this year he decided quite suddenly, that tomorrow was Christmas Eve. And zombies be damned, the lights and decorations are going up…”
Shooting is scheduled to begin this June in Nacogdoches, Texas.
