With an epic title like MONSTERPOCALYPSE, how can you possibly go wrong? You can’t. And that’s probably the reason why DreamWorks is moving forward with a big-screen adaptation of MONSTERPOCALYPSE, based on a popular strategy game involving miniature figurines and playing cards.
According to THR’s Heat Vision Blog, writer John August has been tapped to adapt the game for the big screen, with the possibility of director / producer / billionaire Tim Burton on board to direct (August and Burton worked together on BIG FISH and CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, and are both set to work together on DARK SHADOWS).
What’s MONSTERPOCALYPSE really about? Check it: [the game] involves game maps on which all manner of Japanese-inspired monsters, aliens, robots and insects do battle while laying waste to the cityscape, which changes for each game.
Sounds like an epic landscape for a movie, and an even better vehicle for Burton to get behind. Hopefully he’ll just decided to make it in 3D in the first place, and not destroy the audiences eyes with double-vision garbage like he did with ALICE IN WONDERLAND.

If Burton directs, $6 says that Helena Bonham Carter will star.
