We’ve been waiting for John Carpenter’s THE WARD for some time now. (Hell, I reviewed the script over a year ago.) While there are still no definite plans in place for distribution, it would appear as though the tentative idea is for a July release. Fangoria spoke with Carpenter and got a small update. “As far as I’m concerned, it will be on schedule. But I don’t know what the release plans are.”

Fango also got the word (which is further confirmed by IMDB) that Carpenter will not be scoring the flick. Instead, composer Mark Kilian (LA MISSION, RENDITION) is handling the tunes. That’s a shame, because it’s been far too long since we’ve gotten a new Carpenter score.

Carpenter also talks briefly about his long hiatus from feature films: “There were several elements involved in my decision not to work for almost 10 years. There were some family issues… I needed to get away from the movie business for a while. I just wasn’t having any fun anymore.”

THE WARD stars Amber Heard, Danielle Panabaker, Mamie Gummer, Mika Boorem, Jared Harris, Laura-Leigh and Lyndsy Fonseca (who is on the verge of blowing up, thanks to her role as a major cutie in KICK-ASS). Let’s all pray there’s a firm date scheduled sometime real soon.
